Gas Grill Fire Causes Severe Damage To Milford House

BREAKING: One person was injured in the blaze.

MILFORD, CT —A gas grill fire seriously damaged a Milford home Sunday morning, a top fire official said. At 11:22 a.m. the Fire Department received a 911 call reporting a gas grill fire at the rear of 28 Ashburn Lane.

First arriving units encountered an active fire on the rear deck of the residence that was extending into the kitchen, and up the outside walls of the split level ranch style home, said Battalion Chief Anthony Fabrizi. Firefighters deployed multiple hose lines into the structure and around the rear in order to suppress the fire. Crews managed to gain control the blaze quickly, Fabrizi said. However, the majority of the structure suffered severe smoke damage leaving the home uninhabitable, officials said.

The two occupants of the residence managed to evacuate the home prior to the arrival of emergency personnel. One occupant was treated on scene by fire department Paramedics and transported to Bridgeport Hospital for non-specific injuries, Fabrizi said. Additional information on the occupants condition is not currently available, he added.
