The National Weather Service has issued a High Wind Watch from Sunday evening through Monday afternoon for Southern Connecticut. Winds will be between 25 to 35 mph with gusts up to 60 mph, the National Weather Service says.

Strong winds could blow down limbs, trees and power lines, the weather service says. Scattered power outages are also possible. "A High Wind Watch means there is the potential for a hazardous high wind event. Sustained winds of at least 40 mph, or gusts of 58 mph or stronger may occur."

Rain is expected to begin after 3 a.m. and continue until around 3 p.m. Sunday. Temps will rise into the low 50s and more than an inch of rain is expected. It's possible in far inland sections of Fairfield and New Haven counties that some light freezing rain may mix in early Sunday before the changeover to all rain.
