JWC of Milford Hosts 40th Annual Citywide Spelling Bee

The Junior Woman's Club of Milford Hosted its Annual Spelling Bee at Milford City Hall

MILFORD- It was quite the way to celebrate the Junior Woman’s Club of Milford’s 40th Annual Citywide Spelling Bee! On Wednesday, March 25th, thirteen 5th and 6th graders across Milford Public Schools and Saint Mary School competed for the top three spots.

The Bee went through 27 rounds, a record in recent years! Charlie Tripaldi of JFK Elementary took first place with the winning word “silhouette.” Jai Henry of Harborside Middle School came in second place and Shai Subramanikandan of Meadowside Elementary won third place.

This year's Bee Master was Milford Public Library Director, Scott Brill. Spelling Bee judges included Susan Glennon, Chairman of the Milford Board of Education, Kathy Bonetti, Executive Director of Milford United Way, and Tracy Jenkins, Special Education Teacher at Danbury Public Schools.

The Junior Woman's Club of Milford is a 501c3 non-profit organization founded on the principles of promoting education, public health, philanthropy and service to the Milford community. Our programs include the Citywide Spelling Bee, Community Excellence Awards, Adopt-A-Spot, the Respect Campaign and much more. Our biggest fundraiser of the year is our Annual Touch-A-Truck held at Eisenhower Park in October.
