Here are the latest local updates on how the coronavirus outbreak is impacting Milford.

MILFORD, CT — The new coronavirus outbreak in Connecticut and across the nation is having vast impacts in Milford, including the closure of schools and many businesses.

The number of cases of the illness caused by the virus, known as COVID-19, continue to rise and additional measures and closures continue to be announced. The governor has declared a ‘Stay Safe, Stay Home’ program. All non-life-sustaining businesses in Connecticut have been closed.

As of Tuesday, there were 2,571 positive cases of coronavirus in Connecticut, including 15 confirmed cases in Milford. A total of 36 people in Connecticut have died as a result of COVID-19.

Bridgeport Hospital—Milford Campus opened its drive-thru testing site at 831 Boston Post Road. Persons experiencing symptoms must first contact a health care provider for a script ordering COVID-19 testing before visiting the testing center.

Milford officials have taken several steps to mitigate the spread of the new coronavirus. All Milford basketball, tennis, and pickleball courts are closed. This is in addition to the closure of all city playgrounds.

Residents are encouraged to take advantage of the parks, beaches, and open spaces in Milford.
All Milford Public Schools are closed until at least April 20. The Milford Transit District westbound waiting station (coffee shop on the NY bound side of the train tracks) will be closed until further notice.

While the Milford Public Library may be closed, their online services are up and running. The City of Milford, including police, fire, and public works are fully operational. Milford Schools Updates

Superintendent of Schools Anna Cutaia said the last day of school in Milford will be June 11. She said school will not resume in a classroom setting until at least April 20.
