“With a dad who was in World War II, a grandfather who was in World War I, a father-in-law who was in the Korean War, and a cousin who was in Vietnam, veterans issues are extremely important to me,” Boynton said. “Serving in World War II really defined my father’s life. I grew up hearing stories about his years on the USS Missouri, as well as attending veterans events and learning, first hand, about the many challenges servicemembers and veterans face. Supporting and empowering our veterans to ensure their physical health, mental health and workplace success -- such as looking for ways to connect veterans’ unique skills with those needed in fast-growing industries -- is the right thing to do for them, their families, and for Connecticut overall.”

Said Maroney: “Those who have served our country and their families deserve our greatest thanks. The sacrifice and selflessness they have made and shown needs to be remembered and acknowledged. That is why veterans’ issues are of the utmost importance. Veterans have earned our respect, and I value their opinions and want to know what the state can do for them. Their living example of service to others is something that should be emulated by all Connecticut residents.”
