MILFORD, CT — A longtime community tradition is set to make a splash once again as the Milford United Way Duck Race returns May 30, promising a bigger and more interactive day along the harbor.

Organizers say thousands are expected to gather in downtown Milford as up to 10,000 rubber ducks are dropped into Milford Harbor for the main event at 1 p.m. The annual fundraiser invites participants to “adopt” ducks for $5 each, with every numbered duck racing toward a finish line and a chance at more than 50 prizes.

Top prizes include a $500 Amazon gift card, an electric scooter and Bose headphones. For those feeling especially lucky, a limited “High Stakes” race offers bigger payouts. Only 200 tickets are available at $100 each, with cash prizes of $2,500 for first place, $1,500 for second and $1,000 for third.

Beyond the race, the event will feature expanded attractions this year, including games like “Hook a Duck,” a “Guess How Many Ducks in the Jeep” contest, food trucks, vendors, music and more family-friendly activities.

“We have greatly expanded this year’s race in order to provide more options for attendees to have even more fun,” Kathy Bonetti, director of the Milford United Way, said in a statement. “It’s important to note that proceeds from the Duck Race event are redirected right back into the Milford community as we help address the most pressing challenges we face."
