Milford Dunkin' Donuts Part Of 'Turkey Donut Drive'

MILFORD, CT - Get a delicious donut and feel good about it: When you buy a "Turkey Donut," Dunkin' Donuts will donate one pound of turkey to a family in need. Dunkin' Donuts franchise locations part of the D'Andrea Group have partnered with Connecticut Food Bank, Boy Scout Troop 1 of Milford’s “Thanks for Giving Food Drive,” and Saint Paul’s Church Food Pantry in West Haven to help those in need this holiday season. The Turkey Donut Drive has resulted in 10,000 pounds of turkey being donated for each of the last three years.

In Milford, the 275 Connecticut Post Road and 364 Bridgeport Avenue locations are participating. The turkey donuts will be available Nov. 12-18.

"Every year this fundraiser gets better and better," Dunkin' Donuts franchisee Nicole Ball said in a statement. "Our guests are busy and always on-the-go, especially around the holidays. We’ve created a way for them to make a local donation while grabbing their daily coffee."

Connecticut Food Bank CEO Bernie Beaudreau noted that the food bank distributed more than 19,000 turkeys for people to celebrate Thanksgiving last year.

"The simple act of buying one of these special donuts, or even a few to share in the office will help share the bounty of the season with families who need our help," Beaudreau said.

The event kicks off with a grand opening celebration at the Dunkin' Donuts location at 364 Bridgeport Avenue in Milford on Tuesday, Nov. 14 ,from 7 a.m. to 2 p.m. The event will also include a week-long food drive at the new location to support Connecticut Food Bank. Every customer who donates a non-perishable good Nov. 12-18 will receive a coupon for one free medium hot or iced beverage good at the Bridgeport Avenue shop.
