Milford Homicide Victim Worried She Would Be Killed: Court Record
Julie Minogue wrote in a restraining order application that she was afraid Ewen Dewitt, who was charged with murdering her, would kill her.

MILFORD, CT — A Milford woman who was killed in what police describe as an axe attack had previously warned court officials that she was afraid that her alleged killer would end up taking her life, according to court records.
Ewen Dewitt, 42, of Roxbury was taken into custody Wednesday and charged with murder, criminal violation of a protective order and restraining order, risk of injury to a minor and reckless endangerment. Bail was kept at $5 million.
Julie Minogue, 40, obtained a full no-contact restraining order against Dewitt on Dec. 1 after she received threatening text messages from him, police said. She wrote in her application that she was afraid Dewitt would kill her, according to Hearst CT Media.

Prosecutors said during Dewitt’s arraignment that the case against him is strong, according to Hearst Connecticut Media. Dewitt entered a full admission of the incident, a 17-year-old witnessed part of the incident and there is surveillance footage, Assistant State’s Attorney Alanna Paul said.
Officers went to a Salem Walk residence Dec. 6 around 9 p.m. after getting a 911 call from Minogue’s son, who said his mother was being assaulted by a man, police said.
“The first arriving officers cleared the residence and discovered that the suspect had fled prior to their arrival,” police said in a statement. “The victim was found deceased inside the home.”
Police believe an axe was used in the attack, but are awaiting confirmation from the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner.
Minogue’s 3-year-old child was located in the home physically unharmed, police said. Both children are in the care of family members.
Dewitt was located in West Haven and taken into custody.
