Our Odd Winter Continues For CT: Stormy Forecast Next Week
There will be major weather changes over the next week in Connecticut. Here are new details on what we can expect and when.

CONNECTICUT — Our odd winter continues in Connecticut. The last full weekend in February will feature temps into the 50s followed by a series of storms for the last week of February. But these storms will feature mostly plain rain for the entire state and temps near 50 degrees.
Again, this forecast would make much more sense for late March and or early April but not for the end of February.
It appears that Connecticut will go the entire month of February without a real statewide snowstorm. The last widespread snow event for the winter of 2020 was a few inches of snow that fell on a Saturday in January during the NFL playoffs.

For today, temps will be chilly as highs will only be in the 30s and it will be very cold Saturday morning before we see moderation.
"With high pressure to the south, westerly winds will develop allowing temperatures to moderate back into the mid to upper 40s during the day both Saturday and Sunday," the National Weather Service says.

The National Weather Service says the "long term period starts off dominated by dry weather as high pressure remains south of the region through Monday. Expect temperatures to remain above normal as highs range from the middle 40s to lower 50s. Skies will be sunny on Sunday and most of Monday, however clouds begin to increase late in the day Monday as the next area of low pressure approaches from the south and west.
"This low is expected to pass west of the region, with temperatures warm enough for the precipitation to fall in the form of rain. There may be a few hours of a rain/snow mix well north and west of NYC, early Tuesday morning, however no accumulations are expected at this time. The low passes north of the region during the day on Tuesday.
"There may be a brief break in the precipitation Tuesday night into Wednesday, however a much stronger low is then expected to approach and move across the area as a digging upper level trough approaches from the west. Both the upper level and surface low is now forecast to pass west of the NYC, resulting in another rain event for the local area.
"As the low lifts north of the region late Thursday, it will drag a cold front across the region. As the precipitation ends Thursday night, there is a chance that some of the precipitation mixes with or changes over to some snow, however no accumulations are expected at this time. Drier but colder conditions return to end the week. Expect a return to below normal temperatures on Friday
high will only reach the lower and middle 20s."
WTNH News 8 Chief Meteorologist Gil Simmons says, "A cold day today! After a very cold morning our afternoon temperatures will only be in the low to mid 30s. At least it will be sunny all day! What an incredible weekend forecast! Sunny tomorrow with 40s followed by sunny sky Sunday and around 50°! I hope you can get outside for this weekend! Dry on Monday followed by rain Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday! It doesn’t look like a snow track next week."
