Suspect In Jennifer Dulos Murder Conspiracy Pleads Not Guilty
Attorney Kent Mawhinney, a friend of the late Fotis Dulos, appeared in Stamford Superior Court on Thursday.
STAMFORD, CT — Attorney Kent Mawhinney, the South Windsor man accused of conspiracy in the murder of Jennifer Farber Dulos, pleaded not guilty to the charge during an appearance Thursday in Stamford Superior Court.
Mawhinney, a friend of the late Fotis Dulos, has been accused of helping Dulos murder his estranged wife, has been in jail for more than a month since his Jan. 7 arrest, and he remains unable to raise enough money to post bond on his bail of $2 million.
He is being held at the Cheshire Correctional Institution and was transported to Stamford on Thursday where he appeared in front of Judge Gary White for less than 30 seconds. The case was continued to March 31.

"We're still awaiting discovery [evidence] from state police," Chief State's Attorney Richard Colangelo told Judge White.
Following court, Mawhinney's attorneys, Lee Gold and Jeremy Donnelly, with the firm Butler, Norris & Gold, declined to speak to the press.

Mawhinney and Michelle Troconis, the ex-girlfriend of Fotis Dulos, both have been charged with conspiracy to commit murder in connection with the killing Jennifer Dulos, who has not been seen since May 24. Her body has not been found.
Prosecutors believe both Mawhinney and Troconis worked with Dulos on his alibi for the day of Jennifer Dulos' disappearance, but additionally, Mawhinney may have dug a grave possibly intended for Jennifer Dulos at a gun club property in East Granby.
Troconis, who appeared in court earlier this month, also pleaded not guilty to the conspiracy charge, and her next court appearance is scheduled for March 20. She is currently free on bond.
Mawhinney's legal troubles do not end with the Dulos case. He appeared in Hartford court this month in a spousal rape case from last year, and that case may be close to a plea deal, according to prosecutors.
