Pantochino Teens Bring "A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum" to Downtown Milford

Considered one of the funniest musical ever, "Forum" features music by Stephen Sondheim with book by Burt Shevelove and Larry Gelbart.

Pantochino Teen Theatre is thrilled to present the hilarious Broadway musical, “A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum” at The MAC, Milford Arts Council on Railroad Avenue in downtown Milford. Co-producers Bert Bernardi and Jimmy Johansmeyer have announced three performances, February 27 through March 1.

The Tony Award-winning Best Musical winner features music and lyrics by Stephen Sondheim with book by Burt Shevelove and Larry Gelbart. Quick-witted and fast-paces, “A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum” takes comedy back to its roots, combining age-old situations with the infectious energy of classic vaudeville. “Forum” tells the story of the crafty slave, Pseudolus, who schemes to gain his freedom by winning the hand of a beautiful courtesan, Philia, for his master, Hero.

The cast includes twenty-three young actors from Milford, Stratford, Seymour, West Haven, Killingworth, and Beacon Falls.

“Saturday Night Fever” is sponsored by The Milford Bank. Pantochino’s sixteen season is sponsored Dennis Beirne of William Pitt Sotheby’s International Realty. The musical is produced through special arrangements with Music Theatre International (MTI).

Pantochino Teen Theatre allows young actors the opportunity to work with professional directors and designers outside the academic setting, on a schedule matching that of professional theater. The production has been cast, learned and rehearsed in an immersive ten rehearsals. Bernardi directs the show with Justin Rugg as musical director and Sally Hong, choreographer. Lighting for the production is designed by Jakob Kelsey with sound design by Tyler Kittleman and costumes by Johansmeyer.

Performances are Friday, February 27 at 7:30pm, Saturday February 28 at 7:30pm and Sunday, March 1 at 2pm. Information and tickets are available at www.pantochino.com
