Police Provide Key Info On Speeding Camera Rollout In Milford
The Milford Police Department posted on the locations of the cameras along with other updates.
MILFORD, CT — The Milford Police Department has released information on photo speed enforcement cameras.
The cameras have been installed but are not currently active, the department said in a post Tuesday.
There will be a warning period for the first 30 days after the cameras are installed. Violations recorded during that period will result in warning notices only.

The placement of the cameras is based on crash history, frequency of violations, and school or pedestrian zones.
Some of the cameras will be located in "commercial corridors and high-traffic areas," police said. These will be at Boston Post Road northbound off I-95 southbound at exit 39 and at the 200 block of Woodruff Road, according to police.

There will also be four cameras located near schools:
- The Academy School zone at the 100 block of Gulf St.
- Live Oaks Elementary School zone at the 500 block of Merwin Ave.
- West Shore Middle School zone at the 500 block of Milford Road
- Platt Technical School zone at the 500 block of Orange Ave.
In addition, there will be automated red light enforcement at:
- Boston Post Road at Cedarhurst Lane
- Boston Post Road at North and Orange streets
- Boston Post Road at High Street
The state approved a proposal for nine red light and speeding cameras last year.

The fine for a first violation will be $50. Each subsequent violation will be $75. There will also be an electronic processing fee of no more than $15.
Violations will be reviewed by police, and no citations will be issued without human review and approval.
