'Significant Winter Weather Event' Possible For CT This Weekend
The National Weather Service has issued new details concerning a potentially powerful winter storm for this weekend in Connecticut.

Another day, another twist in the possible upcoming weekend storm for Connecticut. On Monday, there was concern that Connecticut could be buried under snow Sunday, but by Tuesday the storm looked to be mostly plain rain for the state and now on Wednesday, well we really don't know.
It appears the forecast models this evening are showing conflicting outcomes for Sunday, some showing largely rain but now some are depicting a longer period of icing and another model is forecasting heavy snow.
What do we know? Well not too much definitively concerning the weekend storm but it looks like the Friday 'snow' is still on target but we're only talking a coating to an inch of snow max. The annoying part of the Friday snow is that it's forecast to be falling just prior to the morning commute and it could cause some slippery conditions.

Here's what the National Weather Service says about the potential weekend storm:
"There is the potential for a significant winter weather event this weekend, however there is still relatively low certainty regarding the details of precipitation types and potential impacts. In addition minor to moderate coastal flooding will be possible, mainly with the Sunday morning high tide cycle." Here's what the Connecticut meteorologists are predicting as of Wednesday evening:
*Friday- Light snow moves in overnight and mixes with sleet/rain during the AM commute. Not a major event, just poor timing. *Sunday- Snow arrives Saturday PM, remains snow through the AM, & then we mix in rain SE and ice for much of interior CT. *Monday- Serious cold #nbcct pic.twitter.com/UMRxHgezVb

New data-GFS vs EURO for Sunday with two dramatically different weather scenarios for CT. GFS brings low right up over CT with rain. EURO holds steady with a low track near SE CT & a terrible ice event/colder surface temps. Stay tuned!

Colder, warmer, north south...models are doing what they do this far in advance for Sunday. Snow Sat night. Snow, ice/rain still possible for Sunday. But probability of a higher impact event with 6"+ snow (inland) are rising.

ECMWF (the euro) with a major snowstorm Saturday night and Sunday here. Sure beats ice. I’ll have my latest thinking starting at 4. #nbcct

Rain/ice/snow line will shift toward the coast ... but determining how much of each flavor will be challenging especially in NYC and Boston. That's usually how it goes with these Nor'easters. pic.twitter.com/9Hx7SBZh8r
