Solarize Milford's Second Workshop Jan. 28

The workshop will be held in City Hall.

Milford residents are invited to attend Solarize Milford’s second Workshop in City Hall on Jan. 28 at 7p.m.

The kickoff session on Dec. 4 attracted a standing room only crowd interested in learning about the potential for them to obtain a solar system for their homes and the various finance options to make it affordable to residents.

The Solarize program offers residents discounts of over 20 percent and the lease option offers residents a solar system with no money down. These discounts in combination with increasing utility costs make the financial case for residential solar very compelling. In addition, installing solar panels on rooftops can help reduce air pollution and dangerous carbon emissions.

Encon Solar is the selected installer for Solarize Milford and will make the presentation to residents. In this follow-up workshop, attendees will learn about the basics of solar energy and what is necessary for a home to be “solar friendly”. Milford residents who currently own solar systems will be on hand to share their experience with solar and help residents with questions they have.

The City of Milford has been selected to participate in this unique solar discount program that makes going solar easy and affordable. The city has joined 14 other communities in Phase five of Solarize Connecticut, with a goal to more than double the amount of solar currently in Milford over the 18-week program.
