The forecast for the first week of fall yields some surprises for Connecticut. Here's an updated look at the next seven days.
CONNECTICUT — Welcome to the first day of fall 2019 where some places in Connecticut may hit 90 degrees and there is a chance for isolated thunderstorms across the state too. This is exactly what we'd expect on the first day of fall, right?
Once we get past the chance for thunderstorms and showers tonight, it's clear sailing all the way through next weekend. Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, Saturday, and Sunday all look sunny with temps in the mid to upper 70s. The first week of fall looks amazing.
As for the chance for some showers and storms today, it will be mostly dry and even sunny for most of the day. The best chance for storms is late this evening and tonight.

The National Weather Service says there is a chance for showers this afternoon but the rain will be more widespread tonight. "There may also be a few rumbles of thunder accompanying these showers. High temperatures will be about 10 to 15 degrees above normal. High pressure will be slow to build in tomorrow in the wake of the cold front. Expect partly sunny and dry conditions along with high temperatures still around 5 degrees above normal."
WTNH News 8 Meteorologist Gil Simmons says, "Welcome to Fall! It is going to feel like straight up mid Summer for the weather today! High temperatures in the 80s with the heat index around 90 to 93! A scattered shower or thunderstorm possible this evening into the night tonight. I’m not expecting a soaking rain! Back to 70s with cooler weather tomorrow. Quiet with 70s and low humidity for Wednesday too!"
