ID Of Suspect Wanted In Manslaughter Probe Released: Stamford PD

Police released the suspect's name, along with a photo, and are asking for help in solving the case.

STAMFORD, CT — Police are searching for a Stamford man wanted in connection to a manslaughter investigation. Anyone with information is asked to contact police immediately.

Police said on Facebook that Antonio De La Cruz, 33, of Stamford, is wanted in connection to the death of Leobardo Quintero, 43, of Mexico, which occurred Sept. 5 on Alden Street near Stillwater Avenue, police said.

The suspect is approximately six feet tall and weighs about 235 pounds, according police. His last known address was on Alden Street in Stamford.

"De La Cruz is a Mexican national and undocumented," a wanted poster issued by police reads. "It is believed that he may still be somewhere in the area between Stamford and the Bronx, N.Y., and may be trying to make his way back to Mexico."

Last week, police announced a homicide investigation was underway after a resident of Mexico died from a violent head injury. On Sept. 5, police found an unconscious man in the lower area of Alden Street near Stillwater Avenue around 9:30 p.m., according to police.

A crowd had surrounded the man, who was "going in and out of consciousness," as officers arrived, police said. The man, who was subsequently identified as Quintero, was taken to the emergency room at Stamford Hospital with a head injury.

"Unfortunately, the victim succumbed to his injuries," police said in a statement on Sept. 10. "He was temporarily on life support but died this morning...Our thoughts and prayers are with the victim's family."
