25th Annual Summer Concert Series at Wolfe Park

The Parks and Recreation Department is pleased to announce the 2013 Concert Series at Wolfe Park.

The Parks and Recreation Department is pleased to announce that the Wolfe Park Concert Series has a new night…Friday evenings to help kick off the weekend!  Our new night has allowed us to bring in a new slate of entertainers that are guaranteed to bring you to your feet and get your hands clapping.  All concerts begin at 7:00 pm and are held in the concert picnic area on the pool side of Wolfe Park.  A 2013 Wolfe Park vehicle parking sticker is needed to park in the main parking lot.  Those without stickers need to park in the non stickered/overflow lot.  Be sure to bring your blanket, chairs and your favorite beverage and enjoy an evening outdoors under the stars with friends and family.  Great music at Wolfe is a Monroe tradition that promises to keep getting better. The Wolfe Park Concert Series 2013 follows:

Gold Rush                            July 5 (rain date Sunday, 7/7)
Cutting edge acoustic country band that brings a blend of high energy musical genres to the stage. Their repertoire features a mix of original songs as well as classic country, swing acoustic and traditional bluegrass songs.

Eight To The Bar                 July 12

Eight To The Bar will turn up the heat with an evening of Swing, Boogie-Woogie, Rhythm & Blues, Soul and Motown.  Sit back and enjoy the sights and sounds or hop to your feet and boogie down. Either way you are sure to have a great time with one of Connecticut’s finest bands.

Annie and the Mixers           July 19 (rain date Sunday, 7/21)

This Cheshire based band is making their first visit to Monroe and promises to please any crowd mixing up top country hits with classic rock and some Blues thrown in for good measure.  Lead singer Annie Wilson and male vocalists perform songs from Shania Twain, Carrie Underwood, Lady Antebellum to the Rolling Stones, Bon Jovi, The Doobie Brothers and Journey.  An evening of incredible entertainment that you won’t want to miss.  So good, you’ll want them back every year.

Sounds of Frank                   July 26 (rain date, Sunday, 7/28)
Back by popular demand, The Sounds of Frank offer a tribute to the music of Frank Sinatra, one of America’s greatest entertainers.  The Sounds of Frank is a professional 6-piece instrumental and vocal group performing some of the best hits made famous by "old blue eyes."  The group is, perhaps, the region's most genuine musical tribute to Frank and his music.  Fronted by the incredibly talented John Cooper, close your eyes and suspend reality for a moment and you will literally hear Frank's inflections and emotions in John's voice.   All the songs are both sung and performed with integrity and honesty, just as Frank and his band performed them.
