An Education Walk in Webb Mountain Park

Family-style walk is beginning to experienced hikers

An educational walk for families of moderate and gently undulating terrain in Webb Mountain Park is set for Saturday, June 4, from between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. as part of Connecticut Trails Day.

The outing is for beginning to experienced hikers, rain or shine, jointly sponsored by the town of Monroe and the Connecticut Forest and Park Association. Registration is not required. Dave Solek, Monroe park ranger/tree warden, is the lead walker.

Participants are asked to assemble in the parking lot of the Webb Mountain Discovery Zone, 71 Webb Circle, before 10 a.m. A shuttle has been arranged to bring everyone to the trail from there. Leashed dogs are permitted.

The route covers seasonal streams and mixed upland forest of oak, maple, hemlock, birch, yellow poplar and other wetlands species.
