An Opportunity Lost
I was saddened to learn the Jewish Home will be relocating to Bridgeport rather than Monroe. It is, indeed, an opportunity lost for the Town.
I was saddened to learn the Jewish Home will be relocating to Bridgeport rather than Monroe. It is, indeed, an opportunity lost for the Town. Monroe would have realized significant tax revenue with this project, as well as one hundred plus jobs which would have been created for our residents had this project moved forward.
I know there were problems in moving this project forward with Bridgeport and Trumbull. I know all the old arguments all too well as I was serving on Monroe's Town Council at the time. But, and this is a big but, I believe we dropped the ball on this one! This project should have been given top priority with negotiations vigorous and ongoing. I don't believe this happened. How sad for all of us.
This is another example of lack of vision, poor planning and poor decision making, an overemphasis and focus on the land use department and no focus or energy given to appropriate economic development. To the citizens of Monroe: We need to get our priorities straight!
