Golden Rule Pledge

The Golden Rule Pledge is a national effort to enlist faith communities to help prevent bullying in schools.

I recently came across the golden rule pledge:

The Golden Rule Pledge is a national effort to enlist faith communities to help prevent bullying in schools. Some religious groups oppose bullying prevention programs on the grounds that such programs have a hidden agenda to change students religious beliefs. We do not support such opposition. We want to work with schools and churches to work toward the end of school bullying.

Having children in both middle school and elementary school here in Monroe, I know that civility, treating others the way you want to be treated is often in short supply.  Bullying is a terrible problem and something we all need to help end in our schools.

Helping our children understand the golden rule and live it out in their lives, is an important role that parents, teachers and the whole Monroe community can help plant in the lives of our kids.

Will you help?  Will you and your family join in the pledge?

This is what I’m doing:

I pledge to treat others the way I want to be treated.

“Do to others as you would have them do to you.” (Luke 6:31).
