For the first time in 7 days, the deep end of the pool was open! The pool also opened on time and hopefully Cloudy-gate is behind us.
As a matter of fact, First Selectman Steve Vavrek was there this morning, walking around, talking to the pool members, asking questions and listening to the issues. He talked at length with Steve today and bounced around some ideas to improve the park in the short and long run. We will keep an open mind and when we see some of the results in action, we will certainly report them here.
We also noticed that tags were inspected with much more effort today, which is a positive to the several people who have posted that it was too easy to get into the pool area. Families pay too much money to enjoy the pool to have it spoiled by a few people who want to flaunt the entry rules.

We are now in the dog days of August, and from reading the comments on the different blogs and Facebook pages, the heat has definitely been on. Some of the frustrations that have led to the back and forth could have easily been reduced by timely and accurate information:
1) Sunscreen did not cause any of the cloudy problems.

2) Why didn’t the Parks and Recreation Board know about the problems of the pool?
3) Why weren’t there more official detailed postings about what the problem was and a daily status report of what was being done?
4) Why were the pool personnel left to hang out to dry (which wouldn’t have happened if item 3 was done)?
5) Why were the pool hours reduced to 7 PM well before the middle of August without any explanation except “management sent us an e-mail”?
The adults who pay their membership for the pool would be more likely to have more patience if answers were more complete and forthcoming from the adults who run the park.
