Local Entrepreneur’s Give Back to the Community
The Allstate insurance office located at 444 Main St. in Monroe will be accepting non- perishable food donations for its first annual food drive, on Friday November 19th from 9:00am to 5:00pm

When Allstate Insurance agents Larry Matthews and Jon Haydostian opened their doors just over a year ago they were completely aware of the economic crisis. “As local insurance agents we see a lot of hardship, and we understand people are really struggling in this community, we want to help give back” Says Haydostian.
The Allstate insurance office located at 444 Main St. in Monroe across from “Stepney wine and liquor” will be accepting non- perishable food donations for its first annual food drive, on Friday November 19th from 9:00am to 5:00pm, and Saturday November 20th from 9:00am to 1:00pm. All proceeds will benefit the Monroe food pantry, which provides emergency food for needy individuals and families in Monroe. The Pantry provides about a week’s worth of food and other necessary items to more than 100 households per month, and they are especially stretched during the holidays. Larry Matthews a Monroe resident for 20 years is actively involved in community organizations. Matthews has assisted in organizing fundraisers for the Monroe Soccer Club and the Huntington United Methodist church in Shelton.
To make for a more successful food drive Allstate has also teamed up with Robert Sabia, owner of Irene’s Flower Shop. Located at 600 Main St. in Monroe, Irene’s may be used an alternate drop off location for donations. Sabia will also be using his businesses’ delivery vehicles to pick up donations and transport them to the Monroe food pantry. If you would like make a donation but cannot make it to a drop off area, please contact Jon Haydostian of Allstate Insurance to schedule a pick up.
