Monroe Parks and Recreation Offers Panther Sports Camps

Panther Sports Camps offered by Parks and Recreation this summer include basketball, baseball, lacrosse, cheerleading and football.

For all Panther Sports Camps (except Lacrosse), print out a registration form at www.MonroeRec.org and follow registration instructions.  For Lacrosse, register on-line at the Monroe Parks and Recreation website.  See our website for details.   

Panther Basketball Camp - An instructional camp designed to promote interest and skill development in the game of basketball.  The goal is to improve each players fundamentals.  For boys and girls entering grades 4-9 in September.  Session 1 (boys only) is June 26-28; fee $90.  Session 2 (coed) is July 1-3 & 5; fee $120.  Session 3 (coed) is July 8-12; fee $150.  All sessions run 8:30-1:30 in Masuk gym with optional use of Masuk Pool 12:30-1:30.  All campers dismissed at 1:30. Discount of $20 off for each additional child and/or additional week.

Panther Pee Wee Basketball Camp - An instructional camp designed to promote interest and skill development in the game of basketball.  The goal is to improve each players fundamentals and to provide each camper with a positive and enjoyable week of basketball.  For boys and girls entering grades 2 and 3 in September.  Camp is June 26-28 at 2:15-4:45 in the Masuk gym.  Fee:  $55.

Panther Baseball Academy Camp – Participants will receive quality instruction on the fundamentals of baseball, play games with campers their own age and compete in contests and events. Campers will also receive lessons in teamwork and sportsmanship. Camp will cover the mechanics of hitting, fielding and throwing.  For boys entering grade 1-9 in September, held at Masuk High on June 26, 27, 28; July 1, 2, 3 from 8:30-12:30.  Fee:  $185. 

Panther Lacrosse Camp - This will be a fundamentals oriented camp that will help young players develop individual stick skills, learn positional skills (defense, attach, midfield and goalie), master team concepts and gain experience in unsettled/transition play while participating in half field and full field scrimmaging. Players must have their own equipment to participate including stick, gloves, helmet, shoulder pads, arm pads and mouthguards.  For boys entering grade 4-9 in September, held at Masuk High on July 15-18 from 8:30-11:00; rain date July 19  Fee:  $100 residents/$120 non-residents.

Panther Cheer Camp - This is a four day instructional camp where campers will receive expert instruction from experienced high school coaches and cheerleaders.  Emphasis will be placed on the basics of stunting, dance, jumps, cheers and tumbling.  Our goal is to teach the fundamentals of cheerleading in a positive, safe and fun environment.  Participants will be taught in small groups each day.  Additionally, participants will learn cheers and perform a routine for spectators on the final day of camp.  For girls ages 5-14, camp is held at Masuk softball field on July 22-25 from 9:00-12:00.  Fee:  $135 residents/$150 non-residents. 

Panther Football Youth Clinic - This is a fundamentals based full contact program emphasizing individual instructions and group work.  Repetitive drill work and game situations will be used to stress proper mechanics for blocking, tackling, and skill work.  Our highly trained coaches will teach a basic understanding of offensive and defensive plays, formations, and blitz pressures.  Your son will be able to participate in two sessions each day for a full experience of camp with our coaches.  For boys entering grades 2-8, held at Masuk High School.  Morning Clinic:  Aug 5-Aug 9 at 9:00-11:30.  Afternoon Clinic:  July 29-Aug 2 at 1:00-3:30.  Fee:  Until May 1 $125 residents/$150 non-resident; May 2-June 30 $175 res/$200 non-res.
