The First Night at the DNC

FIRST NIGHT AT THE DEMOCRATIC NATIONAL CONVENTION

WOW! Talk about inspiring. The first night of speeches was inspiring, invigorating and emotional. Each speaker clearly laid out the differences between the two parties and two candidates. From creation of jobs to veterans to families to values and visions. They each told personal stories of why they are voting to re elect Barack Obama.

One of the main themes to me was "opportunity creates prosperity" from San Antonio, TX Mayor Julian Castro. You need to invest to create prosperity in the future. The American Dream means something different to each individual, but the diversity of the Democratic Party is what makes us the choice to continue to move the country FORWARD. Our Party looks like America, a melding of different races and religions, all accepted for who they are and what they have to offer.

Michelle Obama was more than awesome. Her emotional speech made each one of us feel what it's like to be in the White House with those huge responsibilities. She let us know how the President remains connected to the public and their day to day struggles and successes. He has accomplished much, not everything yet, but he works every day to deliver on his promises. There has been 29 months of job creation, 4.5 million jobs, more than the entire Bush 8 years. People are invigorated and excited to get home and to really deliver this message on a local level, where politics really count.
