Visitors to the Edith Wheeler Memorial Library have noticed the Constitution Week display of posters, book marks, and suggested reading about the Founding Fathers and the history leading up to the signing of the US Constitution. A local chapter of the National Society Daughters of the American Revolution, the Sarah Riggs Humphreys-Mary Silliman Chapter, provided posters and bookmarks. Chapter Regent Christy Hendrie stated that the DAR is committed to educating the public about the Constitution and thanked the Library for creating the display.
Ms. Hendrie noted that one of the chapter’s newest members, Barbara Pringle, was instrumental in creating the display at the library. Ms. Pringle noted that the books on display were chosen so that library patrons could easily check out the books to learn more about our nation’s history.
Local history is also available at the library reference area and the Monroe Historical Society is located in the library. For further information visit http://www.ewml.org/
