Monroe Father Sues College Over Daughter’s Safety
The suit alleges the daughter was assaulted on campus twice.

MONROE, CT — A Monroe father is suing a New Haven college, claiming that the school was unable to keep his daughter safe.
Paul Lisi of Farm View Road is demanding that Albertus Magnus College in New Haven refund his $11,000 in payments because his daughter Victoria was assaulted on campus twice. The suit was filed in Bridgeport Superior Court.
Lisi's daughter has since left Albertus Magnus and enrolled in another school.

In the complaint, Lisi states that on Sept. 27, 2017, Victoria, her roommate and a male student were in her dorm room when the male student began arguing loudly. The male student then shoved Lisi into her dresser and made her "feel that he was going to hurt her even more than he already had." With the help of her roommate, Lisi was able to remove the male student from the room.
Lisi left the campus the next day, having decided to withdraw from the school.

“Ms. Lisi had lost all confidence in the administration’s ability to make her feel safe and thus she felt that she had no choice but to withdraw," the lawsuit states.
The lawsuit also contends that Lisi was repeatedly bullied in her freshman year by a group of freshman students. The complaint states that she reported the bullying to the residential life coordinator "but nothing was done."
At the time of the alleged incident, Victoria Lisi had lived in the dorm and attended classes for approximately three weeks, and her father had paid around $13,500.65 for room and board. He was reimbursed for $2,668.15 according to the complaint, and is still owed $10,832.50 from the college.
Lisi appealed the school's reimbursement decision, the lawsuit states, and was informed that the report of Victoria Lisi being physically attacked was "unfounded."
The complaint contends that the male student admitted via text that he had pushed Victoria Lisi, and that he lied because he did want to get not want to "get into trouble." Lisi supports that claim in the lawsuit with screenshots of a text exchange between the male student and his daughter.
