Monroe Reconciles with Officer Wall

After being diagnosed with terminal brain cancer, then beating it, the cop said he was not allowed to return to work.

MONROE, CT --- The legal dispute between the town and Monroe Police Officer Andrew Wall has been resolved, the Monroe Courier has reported.

Wall had been a police officer in Monroe for 20 years, when, in the fall of 2015, doctors found he had a malignant brain tumor, which was later diagnosed as terminal stage 4 glioblastoma brain cancer.

Wall began chemotherapy and radiation treatment. Last year, Wall was cleared by his doctors to return to work. But the Monroe police would not take him back, according to Wall. The police union filed a grievance on his behalf with the state labor board, and the Commission on Human Rights and Opportunities . The new agreement between Wall and the Town of Monroe removes those grievances, and Wall is essentially retired.
