• Monroe Bridge Reopens Ahead Of School Year After Months-Long Closure (patch.com) — Drivers and families in Monroe can once again use the Judd Road Bridge, which has reopened after months of construction just in time for the new school year. Town officials say the project was finished slightly ahead of schedule, built for long-term durability, and credit state funding, Nagy Brothers Construction, Monroe's Public Works team, and support from neighboring Easton for the successful completion. 
• Monroe oil spill cleanup to take 3 to 4 more weeks (themonroesun.com) — A major heating oil spill cleanup at Hattertown and Guinea roads in Monroe will keep Guinea Road detoured for another three to four weeks while crews remove contaminated soil and groundwater. DEEP, the town, and Hi-Ho Energy Services report no contamination in nearby tested wells so far, and officials are adjusting school busing and traffic control to ease neighborhood impacts.
