• CT man accused of financially exploiting homeowner. He allegedly charged $1M+ for minor renovations (courant.com) — An elderly Monroe homeowner was allegedly charged more than $1 million for what investigators say were only minor home repairs, leading to larceny and conspiracy charges against a Danbury contractor. State investigators say over $900,000 was billed for renovations to a modest Monroe house that showed mostly cosmetic work. The accused is being held on bond and due in Bridgeport court Oct. 15.
   

• Hattertown Road reopens Friday following cleanup, reconstruction (themonroesun.com) — Hattertown Road in Monroe has reopened after months of cleanup and reconstruction following an August fuel truck crash and oil spill, though striping and guardrail work are still temporary. Town officials urge drivers to go slowly while final markings, guide rails, and signage are installed, and note that state environmental officials continue to monitor nearby wells for any lingering concerns.
