The Discovery Zone To Offer After School Enrichment Program

The Webb Mountain Discovery Zone is pleased to announce that registration is now open for our second season of “After School Adventures.” Our After School Adventures! primary school enrichment program utilizes the unique ecosystem of the Discovery Zone to let kids expend some energy while gaining all the health and educational benefits of being in nature.  From art to amphibians and salamanders to sassafras, this action-packed class will keep young minds and bodies going and growing for a new hour of adventures each week!

Grazi Carletto of Trumbull whose daughter participated in After School Adventures this spring stated, "My daughter's love of nature found its match with the Discovery Zone after school program!  A truly fun and educational program that teaches how to understand and respect the wonders of nature around us."

Tom Ellbogen, Director of the Discovery Zone commented, “Studies are increasingly showing that children spending time interacting in natural settings makes them happier, healthier and better students and we believe our after school program is the perfect combination of guided exploration and adventurous spirit.  We were very happy that each after school class was full this spring and received such positive feedback.  We look forward to an exciting fall and the opportunity to continue to provide this beneficial program for children and their families.”

Webb Mountain Discovery Zone opened in 2007 to promote outdoor exploration and learning, in a fun, hands-on environment.  The Discovery Zone has easy to walk trails of over four miles on 171 acres with twenty-eight hands-on learning stations and a self-directed scavenger hunt created by Hank Gruner, Vice President of Programs for the Connecticut Science Center in Harford with the assistance of Connecticut State Archeologist Nick Bellantoni.  The park is located at 71 Webb Circle in Monroe.  Please note the Discovery Zone entrance is separate from Webb Mountain Park.
