The Monroe thefts are the latest in a widening pattern of overnight vehicle burglaries. Last week, vehicles were broken into in multiple sites in New Milford, and an unlocked Porsche was stolen and two other vehicles burglarized in Wilton. Weston Police are investigating thefts from two motor vehicles reported July 2. Two cars were stolen last month in Newtown after their owners left the keys inside the vehicles.
"We have not had any break-ins," Monroe Police Lt. Corrone said. "People are just testing the door handles to see if they are locked."
