Recently on the Jammin' 107.7 FM (in Ledyard, CT) Facebook page, a commentary was placed regarding what the news media should and shouldn't report. While, in theory, it was a good commentary, we live in America and the First Amendment allows media outlets to report on what they choose. I think media outlets should cover all the stories regarding the Boston bombings, good, bad, and indifferent. Below is the commentary:
"To the news media: We know this is a lot to ask, but please, when Boston's finest finally catch the second suspect, do not run a story about the two disturbed individuals who did this.
Run a story on the courageous law enforcement that risked their own life to catch them and the officers who were injured and killed keeping us safe.
Run a story on the officers that were killed protecting our safety. We say THANKS!!
Run a story about the victims still in the hospital, and encourage able bodies to donate blood to help them continue fighting.
Run a story about the city of Boston that may hurt, but will never break. All these things deserve our attention. But the people responsible for this deserve swift American justice, and nothing more.
Stay strong Boston."
