Country Marketplace Has New Owner

The Country Marketplace in Oakdale has a new owner, but he is not a stranger to Montville.

Amer Javed lives in Plainfield, and has been running gas stations and convenience stores for 20 years. He used to own the Chucky’s and Mobil station on the Norwich-New London Turnpike.

The purchase of the Country Marketplace stretches his business past the convenience store line, as the Marketplace is a grocery store with all the fixins. 

Different, yes, but “We’re still in the same trade,” Javed says.

He’s changing the gas brand from Mobil to Bestway, and says that “When we put our name on it, you get the best price, guaranteed.”

There will be a discount program, he says, “But for us, you don’t even have to buy anything. You get the best price.”
