Daily Five: MLAX, WHO and 'No Name Calling' at Tyl

Your Daily Five for Monday, April 8

Written and reported by Ellyn Santiago.

1. Sunny with a high of 66. Sixty-six!

2. The 2013-2014 proposed budget will be presented tonight at the 7 p.m. Town Council meeting.

3. It’s ‘No Name Calling Week’ at Tyl Middle School. Students are being asked to create posters with the theme ‘mean behavior is not cool.’ Posters will be displayed and best posters could win gift card prizes. Sounds great!

4. The Montville Facebook group called We Help Others (WHO), that we featured recently (and which was subsequently the subject of a channel 8 feature story) has a new family for April; a local couple expecting a child, but sadly, the dad is deployed and will not be here for the little one's arrival. And with no family in the area, their resources are limited. So WHO is having a baby shower for the mom-to-be on April 14 at 1 p.m. at Fair Oaks School Community Center. Here’s the event page on Facebook. Lizz and Colleen are awesome! Nice work, women!

5. Montville lacrosse’s inaugural season started off with a bang! This grassroots effort by so many has paid off big-time. Be sure to check out the all the latest on MLAX on Patch and on the MLAX Facebook page  and its website.
