Democratic Town Committee Holds Trivia Night Fundraiser
Democratic Town Committee aims to have fun while raising political party awareness
Do you know how many presidents were assassinated in the 20th century? Or how about which countries begin with the letter “a” but do not end in the letter “a”?
These questions and more were featured at Trivia Night, sponsored by Montville Democratic Town Committee on Friday. The event was held at the , and featured five rounds of trivia, pizza and snacks, and music.
The committee hoped the evening would help raise funds for the organization and awareness of the .

“We’ve never tried anything like this before, but we thought it would be a fun event to get people to come out and have fun on a Friday night,” said Don Dykes, Chair of the Ways and Means Committee and the organizer of the trivia night.
Todd Pomazon, chairman of the Town Committee, says he has encouraged the Ways and Means Committee to get creative and come up with unique fundraising ideas.

“I think this trivia night was a great way to show people that you can have a political fundraiser and still have a good time,” Pomazon said.
The committee was hoping for a turnout of 50 people or more, but only about 20 showed up.
“I was worried that a lot of people wouldn’t show up because of storm preparations,” said Dykes.
might have kept some people away, but competition between the three teams was lively, and trivia participants bantered as they vied for first place.
“Trivia was a great idea. It’s definitely something different and an opportunity to test our minds,” said Sen. Andrea Stillman.
Mayor Joe Jaskiewicz also attended the event, along with several 2011 Democratic candidates including Laura Tanner and Candy Buebendorf.
The Democratic Town Committee is also planning a dance in September and hopes to hold a wine-tasting fundraiser later on in the year.
