Coastal Perspectives Lecture - Symposium: The Legacy of Rachel Carson

There will be a panel discussion with the following speakers:

Curt Spalding, Administrator of EPA New England (Area 1),  “The 21st Century Environment and a Push for Sustainability Going Forward”

Penny Vlahos, Assistant Professor, University of Connecticut, "TBA”

Robert Askins, Professor, Connecticut College, “Birds as Indicators of Environmental Degradation, From Rachel Carson to the Breeding Bird Survey” 

Sarah Chasis, Senior Attorney and Director of the Ocean Program, Natural Resources Defense Council,  “The Last Frontier: Conservation Challenges Facing the Ocean” 

Peter Auster, Professor Emeritus, University of Connecticut, panel moderator

Lecture series is FREE and open to the public.  Lectures begin at 7:30 p.m., with light refreshments at 7:10.

This Symposium will be held in the Branford House Mansion, UConn Avery Point Campus.
