UPDATED: Feds Making Drug Raids Across New London County

State police sources have confirmed the operation is a federal one with state and local authorities assisting.

The U.S. Attorney, New London State’s Attorney’s Office, Homeland Security Investigations, U.S. Secret Service, U.S. Postal Inspection Service, ATF,DEA, U.S. Customs and Border Protection - Office of Air and Marine, US Marshals Service, Connecticut State Police and the New London, Norwich,  Waterford, East Lyme, Groton Town and Putnam Police Departments will hold a press conference this afternoon to discuss a massive law enforcement operation that has included the arrests of nearly 100 individuals allegedly involved in the large-scale trafficking of heroin and cocaine from the Dominican Republic and Puerto Rico into southeastern Connecticut.

State police law enforcement sources have confirmed for Montville Patch that a sweeping federal and state police operation targeting drug traffickers is under way in southeastern Connecticut, New London County in particular, with a number of local police departments participating.

Law enforcement teams are raiding locations throughout the region armed with warrants and helicopter surveillance continues. The operation is a federal one with Connecticut State Police and local police departments assisting.
