Oakdale Resident Named CBA Treasurer

Attorney Jeffrey F. Buebendorf was installed as treasurer for a second term of the Connecticut Bar Association (CBA) during its June 17, 2013 Annual Meeting at the Connecticut Convention Center in Hartford.

Attorney Buebendorf, who is with the law firm of Brown Jacobson PC in Norwich, practices in the areas of civil litigation, employment law, personal injury, and employment discrimination. He has argued before the Connecticut Appellate and Supreme Courts, as well as the Mashantucket Court of Appeals. Attorney Buebendorf also practices before the Connecticut Commission on Human Rights and Opportunities.

Among his CBA activities include being a member of the House of Delegates and Board of Governors, as well as membership to the Indian Section, Litigation Section, Legislation and Policy Review Committee, and Task Force on Certification of Specialization.

Attorney Buebendorf serves on the board of directors of Hospice of Southeastern Connecticut, for which he also served as vice president. He is a past president and current honorary member of the Rotary Club of Essex, where he was awarded a Paul Harris Fellow. Presently, he is the secretary of the Essex Rotary Scholarship Foundation and president of Phi Delta Phi International Legal Fraternity, an organization focused on legal ethics. Attorney Buebendorf serves as legal counsel to the personnel committee for the Chamber of Commerce of Eastern Connecticut, Inc., and is also a corporator of the William W. Backus Hospital.

The Connecticut Bar Association is governed by a Board of Governors and House of Delegates. The House of Delegates is its primary decision-making and policy-making body; while the Board of Governors is its administrative board, with responsibilities for budgetary and financial matters other than setting annual dues. There are also seven officer positions held by CBA members for a one-year term. These seven positions are president, immediate past president, president-elect, vice president, secretary, treasurer, and assistant secretary-treasurer.

As CBA treasurer, Attorney Buebendorf holds the funds of the Association.
