What A Difference A Shave Makes
Do you recognize this guy? If you're looking at the after pose, you may not!

Written and reported by Ellyn Santiago.
He’s still a little cranky. You would be too if you were out on the street, hungry, filthy, hair matted and hurting.
“We found him roaming on Leffingwell Road. He may have gotten dumped. It’s really sad. And he was a mess, disgusting,” said Montville Animal Control Officer Chris Martel.
But after a good bath and a serious grooming, Petey, who Martel believes may be schnauzer-poodle mix, is disgusting no more, though he is still a tad cranky.
Petey is probably around 7 years old. He has shown little interest in the other dog at the pound and has all but ignored the many cats, Martel said, so he may be okay with other pets. But he has been a “bit nippy,” Martel said, likely because of his condition -- his collar was embedded in his horribly matted fur, for example – so he should not be around children.
If no one comes to claim him, and it seems unlikely that will happen though you never know, he’ll be available for adoption a week from Saturday. If you’re interested in learning more about Petey, contact ACO Martel at (860) 848-3529
