2014-2015 Broadway Series at Shubert Theatre Announced

THE 2014-2015 BROADWAY SERIES AT THE SHUBERT THEATRE

John Fisher, CAPA Vice President and Executive Director of the Shubert Theatre, has announced the lineup of Broadway shows for the Shubert Theatre’s 2014-2015 Centennial Season which will celebrate the 100th anniversary of the Shubert Theatre’s original opening back in December 1914. As part of the Shubert’s Centennial Plan, the Shubert has begun a multi-year project that will improve the theatre’s physical and financial future. In the fall the Shubert will “raise the curtain” on new, improved and expanded public spaces and facilities that will make the patron’s theatre-going experience all the more enjoyable. In addition to the Broadway Series, the Shubert is planning a season of special centennial events to Celebrate the Shubert’s Past and Build the Theatre’s Future.

The 2014-2015 Broadway Series begins with Irving Berlin’s White Christmas, the stage adaptation of the beloved classic film, which comes to the Shubert for a special holiday engagement, December 30, 2014 thru January 4, 2015. The Shubert Theatre will be used to build the new National Tour of PETER AND THE STARCATCHER with debut performances January 29–February 1, 2015. This grownup’s prequel to Peter Pan takes a hilarious romp through the Neverland you never knew. Disney’s BEAUTY AND THE BEAST, the beloved musical based on the Academy Award-winning animated feature film, comes to the Shubert March 5–8, 2015.

The Shubert season is highlighted by the Tony Award-winning MATILDA THE MUSICAL, May 16–23, 2015. The producers of this blockbuster musical have selected New Haven’s historic Shubert Theatre as the site for the build of Matilda The Musical’s first national tour. The theatre will be utilized prior to the public performances to build sets, tech the production and rehearse the cast. New Haven audiences will have the unique opportunity to experience this new touring production at the Shubert Theatre before it launches its first national tour. The season concludes with MILLION DOLLAR QUARTET, the hit musical inspired by the famed recording session that brought together rock ‘n’ roll icons Elvis Presley, Johnny Cash, Jerry Lee Lewis and Carl Perkins for the first and only time.

Shubert Season Ticket-holders have the benefit of creating their own “show package” by choosing a minimum of four shows from the Shubert’s Broadway Series. Shubert Season Ticket-holders can also purchase tickets for other Shubert events before tickets go on sale to the public including Charles Dickens’ A Christmas Carol, November 28–30, 2014, and more shows to be announced.

Current Shubert Season Ticket-holders will be receiving their Broadway Series renewals by mail and have the opportunity to renew their current Season Ticket Seats.
