5th Congressional District Candidate Debate October 4th
The Waterbury Regional Chamber's Public Policy Committee will host a debate between Jahana Hayes and Manny Santos at Aria in Prospect

The Waterbury Regional Chamber and its Public Policy Committee will host a debate between the two major-party 5th Congressional District candidates on Thursday, October 4, 2018, from 11:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Aria Wedding & Banquet Facility, 45 Murphy Road in Prospect.
The debate will feature Democrat Jahana Hayes, the former National Teacher of the Year from Waterbury, and Republican Manny Santos, the former one-term mayor of Meriden. Each candidate won a primary to become the candidate for their respective party. Hayes is also cross-endorsed by the Working Families Party, while Santos is cross-endorsed by the Independent Party.
The Chamber is partnering with the Republican American in Waterbury to present the debate. Other sponsors include and Resource Development Associates of Watertown, and Hubbard-Hall Inc. and Saint Mary’s Hospital in Waterbury.

Managing Editor Anne Karolyi of the Republican-American will serve as moderator for the debate, which will feature questions prepared by the Chamber focusing on business-related issues, including manufacturing, jobs, healthcare and more. Chamber members have been encouraged to submit questions for consideration to be used during the debate.
The event is an exclusive benefit of membership in the Waterbury Regional, Naugatuck, and Watertown Oakville chambers and is open to members and their guests. Members may attend either a private luncheon with the candidates that will include an opportunity for attendees to be introduced to the candidates and state the issues that concern them or a separate general admission luncheon. The debate will follow lunch, beginning at approximately 1 p.m.
