Artistic Director Jessica Durock Moreno states: “With Spring just around the corner, there’s no better time to shake off your cabin fever and discover all the delightful ways to flex your creative muscles at our Playhouse. This is community theater at its purest: everyone is welcome to join in the fun and create something together–no experience necessary. Come and “make your entrance” with us!”

Moreno continues: “Community theaters are wonderful parts of our civic life. They are places where we all can gather, experience different kinds of entertainment, share conversation with each other, and indulge in our love for the arts.”
While this call for volunteers is open to anyone in comfortable travel distance to the Playhouse, we especially encourage high school and college students to use this as an opportunity for community service, resume building, skill building, personal development, and to explore potential careers in the arts. You will be working alongside industry professionals and established artists, who are happy to provide mentorship. We also encourage seniors and retirees to get in on the action!

The Players are currently in rehearsals for our first play of the 2024 season, HABEAS CORPUS, a wildly hilarious British farce by Alan Bennet, starring a dozen local actors, and directed by
Dan Friedman of the Bedford Playhouse, and which runs from April 5th through April 27th.

We are also continuing our karaoke nights, and we are rolling out a brand new, in-demand, and ongoing writers’ workshop, THE COLD LEMONADE READING SERIES, hosted by Morgana Kate Watson; featuring all local playwrights. Stay tuned for announcements on more exciting events and activities, including performer auditions, director recruitment, live music, and playwriting classes. Under President Steve Stott, the Board of the Sherman Playhouse is actively expanding all programming in all areas for the 2024 season and leading into our centennial year celebration in 2025.
