2014 Quassy Summer Idol is set! If you have a family member up to 19 years of age who like to audition, get them signed up! Please review the rules below before registering for your audition.

*          Actual Show Dates: Sundays at 2 p.m. July 20, July 27, Aug. 3 and FINALS at 2 p.m., Sunday, Aug. 10.

*          Registration for auditions: Through July 3. Cutoff may be sooner depending on response. Registration fee $15, non-refundable.

*          TWO DIVISIONS for 2014: Teens and pre-teens. Registrants under 18 must have permission from parent/legal guardian to participate.

 *          PRIZES IN BOTH DIVISIONS: FIRST PLACE $100 plus trophy; SECOND PLACE $75 plus trophy; THIRD PLACE $50 plus trophy. AUDIENCE CHOICE each live competition based on applause.

*          Auditions 6 p.m. July 8, 9, 10. If you miss your assigned audition, you forfeit. 30-second audition - must be  A cappella.  Judges' decisions are final. Finalists will be selected and move on to the live shows.

*  Warm-ups: Performers in any of the live shows may come early and warm up prior to the Sunday shows with a song other than the one they will be performing before the show audience. Those interested must contact the park to reserve a "warm-up" time between 11 a.m. and 12:30 p.m.

 *         Themed Shows and song criteria - Finalists in the four themed days and must bring their own CD each day with song length no longer than 3 minutes, 20 seconds. It will be the responsibility of each participant to download the music for the particular show. Week 1: Chicago (the band) or Rolling Stones; Week 2- Country; Week 3 -Motown;    Final - SINGER'S CHOICE. PENALTY if song runs more than 3 minutes, 20 seconds. NO backup (vocals) or any other vocals allowed on the CDs - instrumental only! Make sure your CD plays back properly before coming to the park.

*          Competition strictly singing. Contestants may use acoustic musical instrument such as a guitar etc., but must provide it. Instrument must require simple setup. Instruments must be tuned before taking the stage. NO amplified instruments. Only singing will be judged.

*  Judges - A panel of professional , qualified music judges will be at each live show. Their decisions will be final.

 * Presented by Quassy Amusement & Waterpark and WATR

Tom Chute, general manager and morning show host at Waterbury's WATR, will return as an idol host for the final show. Tom emceed all but one of the shows in 2012, the inaugural year of Quassy Idol. A huge Quassy fan, Tom is also very active in local theater and has been at radio station WATR for 28 years. Quassy will announce the other emcees later.
