BMW Stolen While Owner Inside Cumberland Farms: Naugatuck Police

NAUGATUCK, CT — A BMW was stolen from a Cumberland Farms parking lot while the owner was in the store early Saturday morning in Naugatuck, according to police.

Police responded to the Cumberland Farms store on North Main Street around 7:30 a.m. on Dec. 12 on the report of a stolen vehicle. The victim had parked their gray 2016 BMW 325ix near the entrance of the store.

The victim left the car idling, but took the key fob, according to police. When they left the store, the car was gone, police said.

A witness reported seeing a black Volvo sedan with dark tinted windows drive into the parking lot and two suspects got out and entered the BMW. Both vehicles were seen entering Route 8 North, according to police.

Police said the driver of the Volvo was described as a black man possibly in his 30s, who was tall with a thin build and wearing all black clothing. A rear passenger was described as a black man in his teens with short hair, who was also wearing all black clothing.

The stolen BMW was later recovered by Connecticut State Police on Route 8 North near Exit 35 after being involved in a collision, officials said.

The BMW was heavily damaged and the occupants were reported to have left the scene before police arrived.

“Naugatuck police remind the community to help reduce this uptick in motor vehicle thefts by locking your vehicles and removing all valuables,” police said.
