Report, Body Camera Footage Released In Shooting Involving Naugatuck Police: PD
The Office of Inspector General has released a preliminary report and body camera footage of a shooting of an armed man by Naugatuck police.

NAUGATUCK, CT — The Connecticut Office of Inspector General has released a preliminary report and body camera footage of an incident last week in which a man armed with a knife was shot by two Naugatuck police officers.
In a news release Monday, Inspector General Robert Devlin Jr. said his office was investigating the officer-involved shooting with Naugatuck and state police and the Waterbury State's Attorney’s Office.
According to Devlin, Naugatuck police received a 911 call Thursday around 9:15 a.m. of a man with a knife acting erratically at Baummer Pond Park.

When officers responded to the park, located on Mill Street, they found Kyle O'Creene, 24, near a picnic table holding a knife, Devlin said.
O'Creene then stood up and moved toward the officers, ignoring multiple commands to drop the knife. Officers initially tried to subdue O'Creene with a taser, however the taser's deployment was unsuccessful, according to Devlin.

When O'Creene continued to move toward the officers with the knife, officers Crystal Hudson and Joseph Palhete discharged their handguns, striking and wounding O'Creene, Devlin said.
Officers in the area immediately provided medical aid to O'Creene, who was ultimately taken to Waterbury Hospital for treatment. He remains at the hospital in stable condition as of Monday morning, Devlin said.
