"Business Matters" Educational Seminar Series Begins November 15

The Waterbury Regional Chamber will launch a three-part seminar series on Nov. 15 focusing on methods for "Taking Care of Business".

Taking Care of Business is at the top of everyone’s to-do list and don’t miss your opportunity to cross things off. The Business Matters Educational Seminars will certainly kick start all with three informative and educational topics related to the workplace. Multi-Generations, Cyber Security, and Mental Health will be key topics focused this coming fall with the Waterbury Regional Chamber’s annual three-part seminar series with the support of Liberty Bank.

Recognizing the everyday stresses of ‘getting more done, better, faster, and with less,’ the three seminars are designed to provide attendees with valuable training and lessons they can take back to their businesses and workplace.

On Wednesday, November 15, Lois Krause of KardasLarson Human Resource Solution will present the “Five Generations in the Workplace” seminar. Ms. Krause states that “Forbes magazine reports that the median age of the U.S. working population is around 36, and in emerging markets, it is closer to 26.” In her seminar, she will provide insights on how to manage cross-generational stereotypes and culture change by understanding and defining the five generations in today’s workforce. She will also help attendees to identify attributes of each generation, new methods for working with everyone, and how to strengthen their business core.

On Tuesday, November 28, Justin Golden of Golden Technology Services and Detective Pete Morgan, Waterbury Police Department and Barry Abramowitz, Chief Information Officer of Liberty Bank, will present “Cyber Security in the Workplace”. With the massive data breach at Equifax when the personal information of 143 million Americans was stolen, the two presenters will provide information on how to protect personal and business data into the future. They will focus on the need for diligence and awareness for the rest of the attendees’ lives, and how to reduce risk while on-line. Gold sponsor of this seminar is Savings Bank of Danbury.

On Tuesday, December 5, Laura Coffin of the Jared Coffin Memorial Fund, will present the “Mental Health in the Workplace” seminar. Ms. Coffin will provide insights on how to provide assistance to colleagues in the workplace who are in emotional or mental crisis. She will provide information on ways to identify the signs and symptoms of someone with a mental illness or crisis, how to offer initial help, and the best ways to connect them with the appropriate support. The silver sponsor of this seminar is Valerie Martinelli Consulting LLC.
