Connecticut Man Arrested on Terrorism Charges: State Police
"Bomb in the building. Waterbury Court System is corrupt. Blow it up," the threatening email stated.

Waterbury, CT – A 21-year-old Oakville, CT man allegedly emailed a bomb threat to Waterbury Superior Court Tuesday and was subsequently arrested by state police on a charge of committing an Act of Terrorism.
Jesse Alexander Spangenberg is also accused of making a threatening phone call to Watertown Town Hall, according to state police.
The superior court notified state police at about 4 p.m. Tuesday after receiving the following message, allegedly from Spangenberg, “Bomb in the building. Waterbury Court System is corrupt. Blow it up.”

Authorities cleared and searched the building, but did not find an explosive device.
A state police investigation identified Spangenberg as the suspect, and within three hours of the court contacting state police, state authorities and members of the Watertown Police Department apprehended him at his home.

“While interviewing Spangenberg he later confessed to sending the e-mail to the Waterbury Superior
Court,” state police wrote in a statement. “In addition, he confessed to a threatening phone call to the Watertown Town Hall he made at 1525 hours, on 06/28/16.”
In addition to the charge of Act of Terrorism, Spangenberg also was charged with first-degree Threatening and second-degree Breach of Peace.
He was held in lieu of a $100,000 bond and was scheduled to appear in Waterbury Superior Court today, June 29.
