Deanery Mass Will Move to St. Bridget Church in Cheshire

The deanery Mass will begin at Saint Bridget in Cheshire on Sunday, September 21 st at 4:00pm.

Rev. Kevin Forsythe announced the following information in the St. Vincent Ferrer Church bulletin this weekend.

The Deanery Mass

In a parish that has one, it’s the late afternoon Sunday Mass – only one is allowed in each deanery. So what’s a deanery? It’s a cluster of towns and parishes; our deanery is comprised of the seven parishes in Naugatuck , Union City and Cheshire.

The deanery Mass is normally assigned to a parish with a school as they could use the extra income. We’ve had the deanery Mass since we’ve had a school (K, 1 & 2). Our school closed over 25 years ago. At that time – and since – the parishes in the deanery who have a school didn’t want the deanery Mass – until now.

The new pastor at Saint Bridget Parish, Cheshire wants to host the deanery Mass as they have a school and would benefit from the extra income. As only one late Sunday Mass is allowed in each deanery, our Sunday 4:15p Mass will end on September 14th , 2014. The deanery Mass will begin the following weekend at Saint Bridget in Cheshire on Sunday September 21 st at 4:00pm.

Saint Bridget has two priests who share their weekend schedule. The church is located at 175 Main St in Cheshire.

The Saturday vigil at St. Vincent Ferrer Church at 4:00pm will continue to be offered.
