Lawn Signs Delivered to Naugatuck HS Seniors
NHS teachers, parents, and other volunteers picked up the signs and set them up in front of the homes of the members of the senior class.

Naugatuck, CT - On Saturday morning, there was a steady stream of cars waiting outside Naugatuck High School, despite the fact that the school building will be closed for the rest of the school year. Parents, teachers and other volunteers came out to safely collect their assigned lawn signs celebrating the Class of 2020 and then deliver them to the homes of every member of the senior class.

The senior class officers and their advisor Michele Russell were at the high school early on Saturday to facilitate the distribution of the lawn signs to the volunteer delivery drivers. The signs that read SENIORS 2020 NAUGATUCK had been ordered beforehand.

Mrs. Russell's sister, Deputy Mayor Laurie Taf Jackson, invited Naugatuck/Bethwood Patch Mayor Nancy Sasso Janis to cover the event. She reported that more than fifty volunteers were involved in the distribution. "We are going to surprise the senior with a senior 2020 sign on the lawn," said Mrs. Jackson in her invitation. "The class officers wanted to do something special for ALL the seniors."

The students and adult volunteers in masks and gloves first presented the drivers with the list of their assigned addresses. Next, a sufficient number of lawns signs were loaded safely into the vehicles, some of which decorated with signs for the occasion. The cars then headed out on the chilly and very windy morning to place a sturdy lawn sign in front of the homes of the graduating NHS students.

When all of the signs were safely in the appropriate cars, Mrs. Russell and her daughter Hailey headed to Lantern Park to deliver several signs to Hailey's classmates. Mrs. Jackson followed behind photographing the deliveries.

Thank you Mrs. Jackson for sharing her photos of the event and for the invitation to follow her around on Saturday.
