National High School Musical Theater Award Nominees

Two teens from Connecticut will compete on Broadway for the top prize.

Connecticut High School Musical Theater Awards will send the 2014 winners of best performance by an actor and best performance by an actress to New York City to compete in the National High School Musical Theater Awards' 2014 Jimmy Awards.

The JimmyTM Award is named in honor of James M. Nederlander, legendary Broadway theater owner and producer.

According their website, The Jimmy™ Award for Best Performance by an Actress and Best Performance by an Actor is awarded annually to two grand prize winners selected from a group of student performers representing the participating professional theaters. Winners are selected by a panel of industry experts.

The NHS Musical Theater Awards will focus national attention on the importance of theater arts education and heighten the profile of communities and school districts around the United States that provide musical theater study in their curriculum and offer student productions as part of their school activities programming. It will also recognize the regional professional theaters participating in this national awards presentation. Two winners from each local event will be eligible to participate in the New York finals competition.
